Stone Mountain teens Shaheed Saunders and Tomcum Siripanhya indicted for fatal accident

Two teenagers have been indicted for first-degree vehicular homicide by a DeKalb County grand jury for allegedly racing, losing control of one car and striking three high school students, killing one.

Shaheed Walee Saunders and Tomcum Tom Siripanhya were also charged with reckless driving and four counts of serious injury by vehicle for allegedly causing the death of Tanesha Williams, 14, and injuring her classmates Brianna Rowell and Benjamin Omozusi in January 2010.

According to the indictment returned Tuesday, Rowell’s and Omozusi’s left legs were seriously disfigured.

Witnesses told police that Saunders, driving a Ford Crown Victoria, and Siripanhya, operating a BMW, were racing when Saunders tried to pass Siripanhya’s BMW and his vehicle jumped a curb near Stone Mountain High School, hitting the three teenagers, who were walking.

Saunders and Siripanhya were 17 and also students at Stone Mountain High when the accident occured, and have been free on bond.
